The putti (plural of putto in Italian) are ornamental motifs consisting of figures of children, often naked and winged, in the form of Cupid, angel or cupid. They are also known as erotes. Putti, in the ancient classical world, were winged children who were believed to influence human lives. They are especially abundant in the Italian and Spanish Renaissance and Baroque, and are part of the recovery of classic motifs typical of the time.
