Illuminated engraving by Johann Gabriel Doppelmayr (1671 – 1750) and printed by Johann Baptist Homann (1664-1724), in Nuremberg in 1742.
“Motus Planetarum Superiorum”.
Interesting image of the orbits of Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, based on Tycho Brahe’s model, observed from Earth for the years 1712 and 1713.

The graph also shows the geocentric path of the Sun and the planets around the Earth. The smaller hemispheres of the upper edges explain the retrogressive movements of the planets with long explanations in the two lower hemispheres. The blade is adorned with cherubs, representing the planets, capering across the heavens.
